Low Vision Lunch and Learn at Abington YMCA

On June 14, The Eye Institute (TEI) of Salus University provided lunch and an informative class for local residents as part of the Abington YMCA’s monthly Lunch and Learn series. Dr. Erin Kenny, a low vision optometrist at TEI, presented “Tips for Improving Vision Problems without Glasses.”

Her presentation provided an overview of various conditions and diseases that can cause low vision such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration among others. She explained different methods people can use to improve their sight without glasses, and reviewed an array of devices and apps individuals can utilize to change the contrast of printed materials for reading ease.

TEI continually hosts community classes throughout the Philadelphia area and surrounding suburbs. Be sure to check out the events calendar to see what’s happening in the community.
