About Dr. Meiyeppen

Dr. Siva Meiyeppen earned her bachelor’s degree in cell biology and genetics from the University of British Columbia and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Meiyeppen participated in numerous externship experiences; she provided comprehensive eye exams to Chicago public school children through the Illinois Eye Institute, provided contact lens and primary care services at a private practice in Chicago, treated low vision patients at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and Partially Sighted, focused on treating ocular diseases at the Sidney Hillman Health Center, and provided pediatric exams, vision therapy and urgent care services at the Illinois Eye Institute.

Dr. Meiyeppen then completed her residency in pediatrics and vision therapy at The Eye Institute (TEI) of Salus University. During her residency, she refined her clinical skills in pediatric primary care, vision therapy, emergency care and treatment of vision disorders related to brain injuries in TEI’s Brain Injury Clinic.

Dr. Meiyeppen is licensed to practice optometry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is certified in therapeutics and glaucoma. She has presented on traumatic brain injuries and vision at various speaking engagements and has conducted research about visually related learning disorders in children and pediatric convergence insufficiency. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
