New Feinbloom Center Chief

04112017_SU-TEI_081.JPGThe Eye Institute (TEI) of Salus University proudly announced the appointment of Dr. Erin Kenny as the chief of the William Feinbloom Vision Rehabilitation Center. In her new role, she will oversee patient care in the Feinbloom Center, which provides a variety of vision rehabilitation services to help patients improve their quality of life, using devices, techniques and technology effectively. She also will manage the interdisciplinary team including other optometrists and low vision specialists,  rehabilitative staff, student interns, externs and residents in the Feinbloom Center. Dr. Kenny is a passionate optometrist who is deeply invested in assisting patients who are blind or have low vision.

“I’m excited to continue to build upon the Feinbloom Center’s strong foundation and reputation for low vision rehabilitation,” she said. “I hope to bring new ideas and technology to the Center to further  benefit our patients.”

Dr. Kenny holds a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Salus PCO in 2015 and completed a Low Vision Residency in the William Feinbloom Vision Rehabilitation Center. In her clinical role, Dr. Kenny observes Optometry students working with patients in the Low Vision, Primary Care, and Emergency Clinics at TEI.

In this short period, Dr. Kenny has earned numerous awards and accolades for her exceptional abilities in the area of low vision education, including the Optelec 2015 Excellence in Low Vision Award, the Clinical Excellence Citation in Vision Rehabilitation, the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award, the Alfred A Rosenbloom Jr. Low Vision Residency Award, and the Outstanding TEI Clinical Preceptor Award in 2016. She has also participated in and been recognized for her involvement in numerous community events such as vision screenings and outreach projects.
