Laryngectomee/Throat Cancer Club Open House Event

SLI Open HouseThe Speech Language Institute (SLI) of Salus University is hosting an open house for its newest support group - the Laryngectomee/Throat Cancer Club - on Tuesday, October 3 from 4-7 p.m. The free event is also open to the public.

Those who have undergone a laryngectomy surgery or have/ have had throat cancer both experience similar difficulties, such as trouble speaking, swallowing, and breathing.  Despite nearly 100,000 people living with throat cancer in the U.S., according to the National Institutes of Health, there are limited resources in the surrounding area for survivors.  The club’s focus is to provide a supportive community to share personal stories, gain expert insight, and allow members to socialize.

Attendees will also be able to meet professional speech language pathologist and clinical educator at SLI, Amy Lustig, PhD, CCC-SLP, who will be the main facilitator for the meetings.

Please RSVP by calling 215-780-3150 or emailing slinstitute@salus.edu. To learn more about the group, please contact Dr. Lustig at 215-460-1150 or at RestorativeSpeech@gmail.com.
