TEI’s Spring Community Class Series Kicks Off with “Tips for Improving Vision Problems without Glasses”

Salus University Community Class - Dr. Erin KennyOn April 20, Dr. Erin Kenny, a low vision optometrist at The Eye Institute (TEI) of Salus University hosted the first of three community classes this spring. She provided an overview of the various conditions that contribute to diminished vision and presented methods people can use to improve their sight without glasses.

She explained the importance of different types of lighting and the direction of light in relation to clearer vision. She also reviewed an array of devices and apps people can use to change the contrast of printed materials for reading ease.

The next class on Thursday, May 18 at 1 p.m. will be conducted by Dr. Rebecca Blaha, an audiologist at the Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI) of Salus University. In her presentation entitled, “Healthy aging through healthy hearing,” she will discuss hearing loss, the importance of treatment [AA1] and the effects hearing loss can have on one’s overall health.
